Most of us at some time have experienced difficulty sleeping. Problems arise when the difficulty becomes regular and pattern forming.

At Hypnotherapy Leeds the first task is to establish what type of insomnia a client is suffering, eg. difficulty falling asleep when first going to bed or waking during the night and then finding it hard to get back to sleep.

Stress and anxiety can also cause insomnia.

The long term consequence of continued anxiety can be serious.

We have a number of strategies to ensure that you start to sleep well again.

Using hypnotherapy along with cognitive behavioural approaches, here at Leeds Hypnotherapy Clinic we are able to teach patients how to sleep peacefully again.

An article in the Independent newspaper (18/08/12) by Nina Lakhani indicated that “one in four Britons suffers from poor sleep and one in ten has a sleep disorder.”

She wrote that Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) is “clinically proven to help insomniacs to sleep better.”

The article refers to Kevin Morgan, professor of gerontology at the University of Loughborough who for 20 years has conducted research in this field and is a proponent of greater employment of CBT within the NHS to treat insomniacs.

Nina Lakhani writes that instead of CBT, “tens of millions of pounds are spent every year on over-the-counter and prescription sleeping tablets, which work only in the short term, can lead to addictions and cause accidents and falls.”

At Leeds Hypnotherapy Clinic practitioner Daniel L McDermid uses CBT to help insomniacs and can reinforce this through hypnotherapy
